Sunderashan (Dileep),a mere SSLC pass , gets married to a MS holder Radhamani (Samyuktha Varma). He runs a ration shop in his town and always spent the extra time he got with his beloved life. Things take a turn when Radhamani ends up with a secretarial job in the city. The story further continues with the subsequent changes in their happy lives involving arguments etc. Jagathy, Innocent, Siddique, Poornima Mohan, Kochin Haneefa play pivotal roles in this film. Mohan Sitara is the music director while Girish Puthenchary and Sathyan Anthikad takes care of the lyrics. Yesudas, Jayachandran and MG Sreekumar the main singers.
 
This is the third film where in Dileep and Samyuktha Varma joins hands after Kuberan and Chandranuddikuna Dikkil. Let's hope this film turns out to a boon for the debutant cinematographer turned director Vipin Mohan. This film is produced by Liberty (Basheer)-Tara (USA).

Kunjikoonan is the filmy version of Vikalanga Varsham, a drama penned and directed by Benny P Nayarambalam seven years ago and was performed in over 1000 stages. Kunjan is an STD booth owner in Ramangiri Village. Chembakom, a blind girl is an employee in the booth. The villagers affectionately call Kunjan as Kunjikoonan. On having asked Kunjan by Chembakkam why do the villagers call him Kunjikoonan, he said though he is six feet high, he is not swollen with pride. So he stoop a little while walking. Basically becuase of jealousy.Circus fetched Chembakom to the Ramangiru village where Kunnan lived with his brother Prasad.  With the death of her father Velu in this village, Chembakom was orphaned. Following this, kindhearted Kunjikoonan gave her a job at his STD booth. As days went on, love began to blossom between handicapped Kunjikoonan and orphaned Chembakom. Kunjan has a lot of friends in Ramangiri. St Thomas Light and Sound owner Thoma, tea shop owner Kanaran, Divakaran and technician Chandran are a few among Kunjans friends. They all care for and love Kunjan. Prasad was in love with a girl named Lakshmi. Lakshmi died in an accident. Lakshmis death not only affected Prasad but also Kunjan and Chembakom.

Dileep takes double role as physically handicapped Kunjan and his brother, college student Prasad. Navya Nair plays the role of Chembakom and Nitya Das dresses herself as Lakshmi. The other casts include Cochin Haneefa, Salim Kumar, Nedumudi Venu, Narayanan Kutty, Machaan Varghese and Bindhu Panicker. Dileep plays a different role in Kunjikoonan being directed by Sasi Sankar and produced by Milan Jaleel under the banner of Galaxy films. The first half shooting of the film started at Thodupuzha last week after former minister P J Joseph opened the switch on function. The main location is Kudayathoor village, which is 11 kms from Thodupuzha.
